About two weeks ago, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Asaka Japanese Restaurant.

Name of Restaurant: Asaka Japanese Restaurant
Location (intersections if you do not know the street address): 6414 E. 82nd St. (behind Hooters)
Type of Food: Japanese
Average Cost Per Meal: For two people, about 30$ for Nigiri and rolls
Methods of Payment Accepted: AmEx, Diner's Club, Visa, Master Card, Discover
Website (if applicable): http://www.asaka-restaurant.com
Comments, What you ate, what you thought, etc.:
HAPPY HOUR SUSHI TIME

$1 Nigiri sushi between 5-7 pm Tuesday through Sunday.

I'm not fond of nigiri, so we got about 4 or 5 different rolls. The total for 4 or so rolls and 8 or 9 Nigiri + non-alc. drinks was around 30$. I was a bit leary of going to a place that serves $1 sushi, but it was good! There's definitely a lot more room than Sakura (the only other sushi place I've been to in Indy) which is a plus.

Be sure to get there at around 5, though. As we were leaving at around 7, the restaurant was very crowded.

Also, there is a smoking section for those who do smoke.

I personally eat there often. It's close by my office, and they have the most fabulous Lunch Special. For $6.50 you get Miso soup, salad, and a choice from a page long list of maybe 15-20 items. My favorite combination is California Roll and Shumai. You get a full Cali. Roll and abotu 6-8 pieces of shumai, a small crab and shrimp steamed dumpling. Along with it you get a japanese potato salad and some cold noodles. It's a lot of food and I've never been able to finish it.

Also, I've found that if you're in Broad Ripple, go to Naked Tchopstix. Their prices are about the same as Asaka and it's a more modern styled restaurant, right next to the Vogue.

i've been meaning to try this place out... i've tried a couple sushi places in town (ocean world, sakura, and wasabi on 82nd) and am always looking for more alternatives...

thanks for pointing out when the happy hour sushi time is, as that will save me a lot of money. i'm from chile, where sushi is very inexpensive (69 assorted rolls for roughly $35 - click here), so the prices here have really been quite a shock to me.

this seems to be a nice place with good sushi that's affordable. i'll be checking it out on wednesday and seeing how that goes :)

to anyone reading this, if u know of other sushi places in town, PLEASE POST ABOUT THEM. i'll be throwing up a couple reviews as soon as i can get my memories out on digital paper.

again, thanks for the review
